FAQ

How do I romanize Korean text?
Paste it above — conversion is live as you type.
Why does name mode spell Kim instead of Gim?
Strict rules give Gim, but passports and everyday life write Kim. Name mode uses the spellings people actually use.
Revised Romanization or McCune-Reischauer?
This tool uses Revised (South Korea's official system since 2000: Busan, Daegu). Older texts use McCune-Reischauer (Pusan, Taegu) with apostrophes and ŏ/ŭ marks.
Does this handle North Korean place names?
International convention still leans McCune-Reischauer there (P'yŏngyang), so double-check official spellings for the North.
